Productive Planning:
What You May Want Help With
Most organizations need an outsider
to ask questions about why it “has to be” the way it is,
and productive planning often depends on unexpected answers. Organizations
are like individuals in that they often don’t see their own
underlying motivations and how they appear in the world. An outsider
can highlight those factors, and help situate planning in the larger
world where you have to function.
Apart
from those factors, planning is a lot of work, and most organizations
can’t spare someone to focus only on facilitating it. The
internal planning team has plenty to do without having to take leadership
for the whole process.
